GTA 6 on PS5 vs PS5 Pro: should you upgrade?

It's the big question before November 19: is GTA 6 worth a PS5 Pro? Here's what's confirmed, what's rumor, and what we recommend.
What's confirmed
The game's PlayStation Store page shows the PS5 Pro Enhanced label, so GTA 6 will make use of Sony's most powerful console.
However, neither Sony nor Rockstar has said what that changes in practice: resolution, frame rate or visual effects.
60 fps is not guaranteed
Several leakers mention a 60 fps mode exclusive to PS5 Pro. Digital Foundry remains cautious: PS5 and PS5 Pro share the same CPU, and Rockstar games lean heavily on it.
A 40 fps mode, or a sharper and steadier 30 fps, are also credible outcomes.
Our advice
Already own a PS5? Wait for the first technical reviews before buying a Pro. The game will run on your console.
No console yet? The Pro can be worth it with a 4K TV and the budget. Otherwise, the standard PS5 does the job.
What about Xbox?
GTA 6 also launches on Xbox Series X|S. Detailed performance per console isn't known yet. We'll update this article after the first tests.
