GTA 6 file size: how much space do you need on PS5?
GTA 6 will be Rockstar's biggest game yet. Here's how big it reportedly is, how much space to plan for, and how to avoid getting stuck on launch day.
How big is GTA 6?
According to PlayStation Store data shared in late October 2026 by the PlayStation Game Size account, the game would take about 210 GB on PS5.
Rockstar hasn't given an official figure, and the size may still change with the day-one patch. The Xbox Series size isn't known yet.
How much space to free up
Aim for at least 250 GB free: the game plus room for updates. On a standard PS5, that's a big chunk of the available storage.
How to clear room
Delete games you no longer play: your saves stay on the console or in the cloud depending on your subscription.
Move older PS5 games to a USB drive: it can store them but not run them. To play, they need to go back to the SSD.
For a lasting fix, a compatible M.2 SSD fits in the PS5's expansion slot.
Preload is your best friend
If you pre-ordered digitally, the download starts on November 12. Start early: at over 200 GB, an average connection can take hours.
